Visitors Information
Welcome to Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church.
Whether you are a long time Washingtonian, a recent arrival to the Capitol Hill community or one of DC’s many visitors, we want to invite you to our worship, fellowship, educational and mission opportunities on the Hill and the wider community we serve. Here are a few things you might want to know:
- We are located in a historic (circa 1865) building just four blocks from the United States Capitol; and conveniently located just four blocks from Eastern Market Metro station (Blue Line); and four blocks from Capitol South Metro (Blue Line) station. Click here for driving directions and a map.
- Off street parking is available (on Sundays only) in a lot behind the church. It is accessible through the driveway located on 4th Street SE (one way traffic going south) between Independence Ave. and Pennsylvania Ave. SE. You’ll notice the curb-cut to the driveway on the south side of the church property. Follow it all the way to the back. If the gate is locked go around the block to the Independence Ave, SE entrance to the parking lot.
- Sunday School begins at 9:45 am and Worship at 11:00 am (10:00 in the summer), followed by a coffee hour with light refreshments. Child care is provided from 9:45 to 12:15. Note that between Memorial Day and Labor Day Worship changes to 10:00 am and Sunday School classes are in recess.
- Our facility is handicap accessible from the entrance on the Independence Ave, SE side of the building. There is elevator service to all areas of the church except the Third Floor balcony.
- Young families often include their children in our worship but may take advantage of the free child care located in the nursery on the first floor (Fellowship Hall); or use the glass enclosed Family Room over looking our sanctuary (Third Floor) which is furnished with a crib; toys; rocking chairs; etc.
- We have an active fellowship group of post-collegiate young adults; interns; and college, professional and graduate students who call themselves the (TnT’s) Twenties and Thirties. Visitors are always welcome.
- Our new parents are developing their own Parents Network given the large number of young families and new infants we have been blessed with in our congregation.
- Other members of CHPC are of all ages, backgrounds, and stages of their faith journeys. Civil servants, private sector professionals, small business owners, retirees, homemakers, parents, empty nesters are all active participants in our church community.
- As a congregation we are all mindful of the Reformed Christian tradition, but seeking God’s guidance and grace, we are always reforming.
For more information about our regular worship and other religious activities please call our office at (202) 547-8676, or e-mail a member of our staff.
