The Washington Seminar Center is a service ministry of the Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church that promotes and supports faith in action, active citizenship, and service learning. Established in 1978, the WSC is centrally located on historic Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. and within walking distance of the Capitol, the U.S. Congress, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, and Smithsonian Museums.
Our facility sleeps up to 40 people in three bunk rooms on bunk beds and an additional 20 people on mattresses in an overflow room. We have some camping cots available as well. Bring your own bedding and towels, as well as your own sleeping bags if you prefer. We have a large commercial kitchen for preparing your meals with two refrigerators and a commercial oven and a stove with six burners.
The Washington Seminar Center is also a great place to run your own seminars with a large and versatile meeting area with the bunk rooms doubling as break-out spaces. There is a large LCD TV for videos or presentations as well as WiFi. There is information on the WSC at www.washingtonseminarcenter.org.
The cost is $35 per night per person. For groups larger than 40, sleeping on mattresses or your own sleeping bags on the floor is $25 per person. There is no minimum on the number of nights a group may stay at the WSC.
You need to register at http://bit.ly/WSCRegistrationForm. When your information is received we will be notified automatically and will place your group on the WSC calendar for 30 days. We’ll prepare and send you a contract which must be returned with 1/3 deposit within the 30 days. This reservation gets your group on the calendar; the contract and deposit lock the dates. We operate on a first come first served basis.
If your group is less than 20 you may be asked to share the facilities. If you share, the cost drops to $30 per night per person. Sharing groups are assigned sleeping areas, bathrooms and kitchen space. We match groups by age and purpose. The minimum group charge is $525 (15 people x $35.) If you are lodging at the facility there is no additional charge for running programming in the Washington Seminar Center.
