Becoming A Member

prayer-candles.JPGThe decision to join Christ’s church is a deeply personal one. Our calling, and privilege, is to welcome you with open arms and offer the fellowship, mission service, educational, music and worship activities that will inspire your participation, at various levels, and an ever deepening faith. If you wish to discuss our membership options just email or telephone Pastor Andy Walton at 202-547-8676 and he will be glad to visit with you.

Regarding your faith journey….

Our unique location in a unique American city, allows “membership” at Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church to be very flexible.

Many of you are employed and live in DC but consider “home” to be in communities from around the country. We respect that fact and your loyalty to your home church. But if you wish to be closely involved in our church life during your stint in Washington, we would like to welcome you as an “associate” member. This gives the opportunity to share fellowship opportunities, share your time and talents, but (ironically, given our location in the nation’s capitol) does not (by our denomination’s rules) allow you to vote in church matters.

Here on Capitol Hill we also are blessed with a very diverse and changing community that includes young families, singles and students and yes even empty nester’s and retirees attracted to the vibrancy of the city. We are fortunate that our existing membership includes virtually every cross section of the Capitol Hill community as you see it today.

Many of these new residents whose roots are more established are looking for a more permanent “church home’. We have as many as 20-30 visitors a week who over time become known at “AR’s” or “Attends Regularly”. It is from these ranks of AR’s that most make the very personal decision to become full Members of the church.

Again, if you wish to discuss our membership options just email or telephone Pastor Andy Walton at 202-547-8676 and he will be glad to visit with you.
