Following up on past studies of “The Kingdom of Heaven in Jesus’ Parables” and “Seeking God’s Presence Through Celtic Christianity / Spirituality”, this year Byron Buck and Andy Walton will lead a group in “Claiming Time and Space for Spiritual Practice.” This will be an exploration, practice, and experience of the many ways we put our faith into action, both intentionally and unintentionally through worship, Bible study, meditation, reading, writing, art, entertainment, recreation and a host of other ways. Practical application of the theological concepts that the Kingdom of Heaven is here and now, and Creation is inherently good is the goal of this class. Much of the content will be determined by class members, evolving from individual and collective needs and curiosities.
In The Letter of Paul to the Romans he tells early followers of Jesus: “…be
transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of
God–what is good and acceptable and perfect.” The topic for this year’s 2nd and 4th Wednesday Worship / Study Group led by Pastor Walton is “Change Your Mind – Change Your Life.” Using a variety of interfaith resources, we will explore and practice how we think is at the core of how we experience the Eternal Presence-God and in turn live our lives.
