Conversations on Marriage

On three Wednesday evenings,  Jan. 18,  Feb. 1 & 15, 2012, we are continuing our discussion and discernment begun last Spring of  how we at CHPC are responding to the shifting understanding and practice of marriage today.  The first of these, on Jan. 18 was informative reflection and discussion of biblical theological perspectives on marriage.  Please watch this space for details of subsequent discussion topics, and read on for more information: more details…

From the Pastor

Dear Friends,

A majority of the presbyteries of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A) have voted to amend our Book of Order in a way that opens ordination as Elders, Deacons, or Ministers of Word and Sacrament to all people regardless of sexual orientation.

Music

The CHPC Sanctuary Choir

The music program at CHPC consists of an adult choir, special musical events including ensembles and orchestra that perform through out the year, occasional performances conducted by guest musicians, and holiday oriented musical performances for the children.

Sharing musical talents through dedication have been a tradition of CHPC for many years. The adult choir performs works from many stylistic and historical traditions that are of significant musical value. In the past years, they have performed “Midnight Mass” by Marc Antoine Charpentier, Maurice Durufle motets and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Five Mystical Songs”. To complement the formal music program there are also small groups that meet for guitar lessons offered by a member of our congregation.

The adult choir welcomes new voices and invites all who are interested to attend rehearsals on Thursday evenings at 7:30 and Sunday mornings at 9:15.  Rehearsal materials can be found here.

Talented soloists, both instrumental and vocal, augment many of the services. If you are interested in the music program, please email the music director
