CHPC’s main sanctuary space is located on the 2nd floor of the building, with elevator access. The space itself is 56′-6″ wide’ x 75′-0″ long and includes a single-row balcony at the rear of the room as well as a glass-enclosed room overlooking the sanctuary. There are four sections of 13 rows of pews, organized with one section on either side of a central aisle, and one section on each side of a side aisle. The space has a raised chancel/altar as well as a separate narthex space at the entrance to the sanctuary.
At the ground floor level of the building, under the sanctuary, is a large gathering space, Fellowship Hall. Fellowship Hall is easily accessed from the main entrance of the building off of 4th Street, or via the side entrance at Independence Avenue, which provides level entry into the building at grade. The elevator within Fellowship Hall provides access down one level, to the Washington Seminar Center, and up one level, to the main sanctuary. Fellowship Hall is 27′-9″ wide by 41′-7″ long and includes an 8′-11″ x19′-3″ wide raised stage at the end opposite from the main entrance. Fellowship Hall is adjacent to the church’s kitchen, which includes a range, dishwasher, sink and refrigerator.
CHPC has several rooms that are accessed off of the main gathering space, Fellowship Hall. One of these rooms is the Library, a 14′-3″ wide x 23′-7″ long room, furnished with comfortable chairs and a couch. This is a private space for small meetings and workshops, and is used on Sunday mornings for CHPC’s Sunday School classes.
At the main level of the building, down the hall and a few steps up from Fellowship Hall, is the Chapel. This is a separate gathering space, sort of a small sanctuary, but more informal. The room contains fixed storage cabinets at either side, as well as a small kitchenette (sink and refrigerator) at the back wall. The space is 28′ long x 31′-7″ wide and can be easily set up with chairs, tables, or as an open event space for a reception or meeting/gathering.
