What to Expect

CHPC is a welcoming and inclusive church, and we invite you to visit.

All are welcome to join in our various service projects, musical programs, small-group classes, and social gatherings, as well as the wider life of the church.

We are a multi-generational church, and blessed to have many young families with children who join in worship.

Holiday Cheer

Interested in taking on a more active role in the activities above? Looking for other ways to give back? Here are just some of the ways we would welcome you to reach out this season:

Two young girls dressed in holiday costumes standing in front of a decorated Christmas tree. They are wearing large gold bows with red and green accents on their heads and matching gold ribbons around their necks. The Christmas tree behind them is adorned with white lights, ornaments, and hanging decorations, with a warm indoor setting.

Join in: the Christmas Pageant (Children/Youth)

If your child or youth would like to participate in the Christmas Pageant (Sunday, 11am, December 21), please fill out this form.

Serve: Breakfast Ministry

One of our congregation’s favorite service projects is our monthly preparation of breakfast burritos for the hungry in our neighborhood. It is one of several partnerships we have with Capitol Hill United Methodist Church (CHUMC).

This Advent, we invite you to join us in serving breakfast at CHUMC. Volunteers are needed on a daily basis (from 8:30 am); we are organizing an ‘official’ meet-up for Thursday, December 4, and Emily (our Service Elder) also volunteers every Monday. If you are interested in joining in one of these times, please reach out to Emily.

A Christmas-themed scene featuring a box of thumbprint cookies with red jam, a jar of caramel, a glass of red cranberry sauce, and scattered cookies on a dark surface decorated with pine branches, cotton, and fairy lights.

Bring Something: to the Christmas Party

Want ideas for what to bring (or already have something in mind) for the potluck on December 14? Advance sign-ups are welcome via this form.

Looking for more ways to support our wider Hill community? CHPC maintains a Little Free Pantry as a space for exercising compassion, trust, and mutual aid. If you are interested in contributing to its stores of non-perishable food and toiletries, a list of suggested items can be found here.

Share Joy: Children’s Toy Drive

CHPC is delighted to partner with CHUMC on a toy drive for the children of migrant families. Gifts are needed for children of a wide range of ages—from toddlers to teens—and a list of requested items can be found here.

The drive is ongoing through December 12. Drop-offs can be made at CHPC or via the information in the link.

Build Community: Clothing Drive

In partnership with the Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid Network, CHPC is also participating in a winter clothing drive to support migrants in our area.

A list of needed items can be found here. Donations can be dropped off at CHPC or one of the locations noted at the link.

This specific drive is running through the end of the year, but other donations are accepted throughout the year (and always welcome!). Due to storage limitations, we do ask that donations are for “seasonably appropriate” items.

Sponsor a Poinsettia

Each year, beautiful three-stemmed poinsettias decorate our church.

If you are interested in dedicating a poinsettia in honor or memory of someone, you can submit your donation and dedication here. The deadline for submissions to be included in the bulletin during ‘Lessons and Carols” is December 2.
